Our musical theatre has gained community and state-wide recognition. The reputation of excellence of the musical theatre may in fact have helped the most in developing a “Robeson company following” which naturally has enhanced all other components of PRPAC. In 1996, “What’s Going On – The Musical Genius of Marvin Gaye” was performed locally and then toured internationally to the twin Islands of Trinidad and Tobago, W.I. In 2001 and 2002 we mounted along with professional talent from NYC “The Wiz” and “From The Cotton Club to Motown”
The Paul Robeson Performing Arts Company & The Community Folk Art Center continue Evenings
of Jazz on the first saturday
of each month.
The gospel choral ensemble formerly under the direction of the late Vivian Teal Howard
and is currently under the direction of LeGreer Brown. The first major production, “Soulful Sources: A Gospel Retrospective,” was
at Armory Square Candlelight series and most recently the newly resurrected Paul Robeson Gospel Ensemble
performed on the nationally acclaimed “Imus
in the Morning” MSNBC radio show” Television and aired live from The Turning Stone Showroom. |
