Awards & Achievements:

The Paul Robeson Performing Arts Company (PRpac) is deeply involved in the lives of young people and uses the arts to address issues such as violence, workforce preparation, academic achievement and multicultural understanding.

Recent Achievements and Awards

  • 2008 Nia Award as founder of PRpac Mr. Rowland was honored for promoting arts and theater in the community
  • 2005 The Eastside Neighbors In Partnership (ENIP) Beacon Award For Arts & Culture
  • 2004 United States Postal Service Commemorative Stamp Award: For Delivering the Spirit of Paul Robeson to the Community
  • 2003 Syracuse Chapter/Onondaga County NAACP; The Community Service Award; for Improving the Quality of Life for Minority citizens in Syracuse and Onondaga County
  • 2001 National Council of Negro Women for Dedicated Service to the Syracuse Community
  • 1998 The Syracuse Newspapers Post Standard Achievement Award for 1998 was awarded to Roy E. Delemos and William H. Rowland II, on behalf of PRpac, along with nine others: “10 have been chosen as experts, volunteers, community treasures.” The award went on to say that “, these leaders have made a profound impact on the Central New York community.”
  • 1998 The Urban League of Onondaga County presented to William H. Rowland II, on behalf of PRpac, the prestigious Harriet Tubman Award “ for significant performance in the struggle for equality.”
  • 1995 PRpac was commissioned by the NYS Department of Labor to write and produce an original theatrical production of several vignettes on career awareness for the Central New York Career and Education Expo. This final production received much acclaim from the Department of Labor as 3,500 high school students poured into the OnCenter to see this performance by a PRPAC multi-racial cast of high school students.
  • 1994 PRpac conducted a 16 week program entitled Enhancing Academic Achievement Through the Arts (EAAA), which combined training in the performing arts with personal development workshops.
  • 1994 PRpac was commissioned by the Central New York Task Force on Violence and the NYS Department of Health to write and produce an original play on the topic of youth violence. The play entitled “Public Enemy” toured all of the secondary schools in Syracuse and several other school districts. The show also toured college campuses such as Le Moyne, Cazenovia, Onondaga Community College and S.A.S at Syracuse University.

  • 1984 Tarky Lombardi – For Community Involvement in Providing an Important Cultural Asset to Upstate New York Area.
  • 1984 Mayor’s Achievement Award (Mayor Lee Alexander)
